Update – Tuesday, June 27, 2017 – According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office on 6/27/2017 Dr. Vera Volnikh performed an autopsy on the body of a man found on the side of the road in West Frostproof. Other than the superficial laceration to the head previously observed, no other trauma was noted.
Dr. Volnikh ruled the cause of death as Chronic Alcoholism with a contributory cause of COPD and the manner of death as Natural. The identity of the man is not being released until family members can be contacted.

Update- The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has advised that the body found on West Frostproof Rd. is that of a male. An autopsy is being performed. At this time no details have been released as to how the body was found. No information regarding if foul play or natural causes are involved. No information is available as to the identity of the victim. We will update as soon as more information is available.
Frostproof, Florida – According to Carrie Horstman, Polk County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer, deputies are conducting a death investigation in Frostproof. The area they are investigating is on West Frostproof Rd. near Oakridge. The body was found on the side of the road. Deputies have the road blocked off according to witnesses. The investigation started around 10:30am.
