Ground has officially been broken on Winter Haven’s new Splash Pad at Trailhead Park and soon local children will have a cool place to beat the heat.
The groundbreaking took place the first week of July and construction started on July 13th.
A splash pad or spray pool is a recreation area, often in a public park, for water play that has little or no standing water.
This is said to eliminate the need for lifeguards or other supervision, as there is little risk of drowning. Splash pads have existed in the commercial industry for decades.
The splash pad will incorporate several mounted spray heads and will conserve water by using a recirculating filtration system.
In addition to the splash pad, two concrete picnic pads with large sail shade structures will also be constructed.
