    Haines City Woman Allegedly Steals 250K From Lake Wales Employer

    Lake Wales, Florida – On November 19, 2013, Lake Wales Police Detective Ivelisse Rodriguez, was contacted by Pam Thompson, the owner of Central Florida Manufactured Home Sales, a Lake Wales business specializing in manufactured homes re-sales, concerning the theft of money by a former employee. During the course of Detective Rodriguez’s investigation, it was discovered that Melissa Platt Ginther allegedly falsified documents, from 2010 to 2013, in an attempt to hide money that she was suspected of illegally obtaining for her personal use. During the investigation it was determined the amount allegedly stolen exceeded $250,000.00. Ginther was taken into custody…

We thought we would share some the arrests this past week conducted by the Lake Wales Police Department here in Lake Wales. During some retail theft cases, suspects are not taken to Polk County Jail and their mugshot taken. In those cases suspects are arrested by affidavit and given a court date.     Lake Wales, Florida – While on patrol (March 30, 2014) through Wal-Mart ( 2000 State Road 60 East) around 2120 hours a Lake Wales officer was contacted by loss prevention officer who informed him of an alleged retail theft in progress. The LWPD officer and loss prevention officer reportedly watched the suspect while she moved around the store concealing items on her and about her person. Sheriff’s Office Arrests 41 During Operation “Sticky Hands”

PCSO Organized Retail Crime Detectives Make 41 Arrests During Two Day Operation From Wednesday, April 9th through Thursday, April 10th, 2014, detectives assigned to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Organized Retail Crime (ORC) Unit arrested 37 suspects for various retail theft charges after conducting surveillance at a number of Polk County retail stores during “Operation Sticky Hands.” Detectives worked closely with multiple loss prevention staff at the following retailers in Polk County during the two day operation: Marshalls & T.J.Maxx, Target, Bealls & Bealls Outlets, Walmart, Publix, Home Depot, Belk, and Walgreens. 4 others were arrested on other (non-theft) charges….

FHP & Readers Report Accident Blocking Some Lanes of Hwy 27

  Update  10:15pm : No injuries have been reported by the FHP. Two northbound lanes are blocked. Lake Wales, Florida – The Florida Highway Patrol and readers have alerted us to an accident on Hwy 27 blocking some lanes of traffic, just South of Cypress Gardens Blvd. According to FHP the accident was reported at 9:26pm.  Please drive carefully. We will update this article as we get more information.
