    Pedestrian Struck & Killed On Hwy 27 In Lake Wales

    Lake Wales, Florida – According to Lake Wales Police Department an unidentified pedestrian was struck and killed Tuesday night on Hwy 27. The accident occurred in front of DJ’s Auto Sales in the southbound lane which is just South of S.R. 60. According to Troy Schulze, Lake Wales Police Deputy Chief, a southbound Chevy Trailblazer did not see the pedestrian who was in the roadway. At this time it is believed that the driver didn’t see the man and struck him in the roadway. The driver was not injured. Hwy 27 S will be rerouted for an extended period of…

    Purse Theft at Publix   On November 21, 2014 a customer who was shopping at Publix, located at 23965 HWY 27, reported her purse stolen. The theft occurred at the customer service counter at approximately 1:50pm. A short time later her purse was located in a shopping cart outside the store. The customer reported her currency had been stolen from her purse.   The Lake Wales Police Department is trying to identify the woman in these photographs.       Lake Wales, Florida – On Saturday night, November 23rd, Lake Wales Police officer Waldron responded to the Prince Of Wales Motel in reference to a suspicious person knocking on the door at room #13. Officer Waldron responded to this location earlier in the evening reference to a burglary. The students, 6th graders through 12th graders, will be delivering Thanksgiving baskets to the needy in the Lake Wales community.     Organized Retail Theft Investigation “Operation Holiday Heist” Results in 37 Arrests, Uncovers Counterfeiting Operations   From Thursday, November 20th through Saturday, November 22, 2014, Polk County Sheriff’s Organized Retail Crime Task Force detectives, with assistance from Retail Alliance Partners Lowes, Bealls, Publix, Target, and Walmart, arrested 37 people during an investigation targeting those who commit retail theft.  Detectives worked in retail stores and parking lots in order to disrupt and apprehend shoplifters. Of the 37 suspects arrested, 26 committed retail theft – 22 adults and 4 juveniles. After selecting and concealing the merchandise, these suspects exited the businesses, and passed…

One incident took place at the Eagle Ridge Mall Saturday night, November 22, 2014, and the other incident happened at the Chili’s restaurant the same evening.
