76-year old Arthur Canning of Lakeland was killed Tuesday morning (April 2, 2024) when his plane crashed during takeoff from South Lakeland Airport in Mulberry.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office can confirm we are at the scene of a small airplane crash with one confirmed deceased person at the South Lakeland Airport (not Lakeland Linder), 4868 Southwind Drive, Mulberry.
Sheriff Judd will give a briefing around 1:45 p.m.-2:00 p.m.
