At around 3:30 a.m., PCSO deputies and members of Polk County Fire Rescue responded to the scene of the single-vehicle crash on Main Street East just west of Eleanor Drive.
According to the preliminary investigation, 48-year-old Pedro Alcantra of Lakeland was driving a white 2001 Ford F-150 westbound on Main Street East, when for unknown reasons, the truck traveled across the eastbound lane and into a ditch on the south side of the road. The truck then hit a culvert and crashed into a power pole on the southwest corner of the intersection.
