Winter Haven Surgury Center Damaged by Smoke This Evening
Four engines and one tower truck from the Winter Haven Fire Department responded when a citizen passing by the Winter Haven Surgery Center (325 Ave B N.W. Winter Haven) saw smoke coming from the roof area at approximately 6:50 p.m.
When units arrived, smoke was seen coming thru an air conditioner unit. Additional smoke was seen coming from additional air units, so a tower truck was deployed to reach the roof of the building. Firefighters encountered a lightening storm as they inspected the roof in an attempt to locate the source of the fire.
Members entered to find the source of the fire, which was coming from an interior office directly off of the front lobby.
Damage was primarily contained to the office with minimal damage to adjoining areas. However, due to the smoke distributed throughout the air units, the building has smoke throughout which will cause the business to close until the air can completely be cleared.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
Additionally, anyone who had scheduled appointments at the facility should contact them directly regarding any appointments scheduled in the near future.
