Sheriff Grady Judd and Auburndale Police Chief Terry Storie briefed the media last night regarding an officer-involved shooting that occurred late Tuesday evening, September 12, 2023, at the entrance to the Westside Ridge neighborhood on Westside Ridge Blvd (cross street Berkley Rd) in the city of Auburndale.
Auburndale Police and PCSO deputies responded to an armed suspect, identified as 55-year-old Angelo Theodore Curcione (DOB 8/27/68) who has a lengthy and violent criminal history in New Jersey, including a stint in state prison for attempted murder. Curcione was armed with a large kitchen knife. After threatening the officers and deputies with the knife, they were forced to shoot him, and he is deceased. No officers or deputies were injured during the incident, which is being investigated by the 10th Judicial Circuit Officer Involved Deadly Incident Task Force.
