LWFD Partnering With Churches To Offer Smoke Alarm Batteries This Weekend
Lake Wales, Florida – After over thirty years of promoting smoke alarms as the best opportunity of surviving a residential fire, many still do not have working detectors in their homes. The Lake Wales Fire Department is excited about a community outreach program that will take place this Saturday, March 9th. We will be partnering with local churches in an attempt to reach out to the community by going door to and offering batteries for smoke alarms and offering assistance to those who might need help changing their batteries. Runners & Walkers Needed For 3rd Annual Run Like You Care 5k & 10k
Lake Wales, Florida – Care Center is looking for runners and walkers to help support our Meals on Wheels program. Our 3rd annual “Run Like You Care” 5k & 10k run/walk is set for Saturday April 13th. The race will start and end on the shores of Lake Wailes lake across from Kiwanis Park. There will be a fun run for the kids as well as other activities. Young Boy Struck By Car In Lake Wales
Lake Wales Florida- Police and emergency crews are called out to Marietta Street in Lake Wales where a young boy has been struck by a car. The boy has been taken by helicopter to hospital for trauma treatment. Currently the Polk County Sheriff Department crime scene investigation unit is taking a look at the accident area.
