Lake Wales, Florida – Care Center is looking for runners and walkers to help support our Meals on Wheels program. Our 3rd annual “Run Like You Care” 5k & 10k run/walk is set for Saturday April 13th. The race will start and end on the shores of Lake Wailes lake across from Kiwanis Park. There will be a fun run for the kids as well as other activities. On July 18, 2012, at 11:57pm the residents of 4340 Ashton Club Drive, in Lake Wales, heard a loud noise coming from their front porch. Thinking someone was maybe trying to break in, the home owners went to their door and saw their porch had been broken into. What the home owner found was not an ordinary intruder. Mayor To Proclaim May 17th “Lake Wales World Champion Day”
Lake Wales, Florida – In honor of the Lake Wales High School Spanish Team winning the World Language Competition, mayor, Mike Carter will proclaim May 17th “Lake Wales World Champions Day”. The mayor will do this at tonight’s City Commission meeting. Lake Wales High School’s Spanish Team beat out other schools to win first place at the World Language Competition held April 2 at Florida Southern College. LWHS Chorus hosts Dinner Theatre Friday & Saturday
Lake Wales, Florida – Toes will be tapping next weekend (May 13-14) when the Lake Wales High School Chorus hosts a Dinner Theatre program titled “You Can’t Stop The Beat!” The show will include performances by the Hillcrest Elementary third grade chorus, Hillcrest’s fourth and fifth grade chorus, Hillcrest’s ENCORE show choir, the Bok Academy chorus, and the LWHS chorus. “This will be a fun, musical night for the entire family. Quick Thinking Helps Catch Hit & Run Driver On Burns Avenue
Lake Wales, Florida – Last Friday May 6, Andrew Borders was traveling in the inside lane going Westbound on Burns Ave. A Ford F150 pickup truck passed Borders car and attempted to change lanes. The problem was the driver changed lanes too soon and crashed his truck into Borders car. The truck drove away from the accident scene. But not before Borders copied down the tag number. Attempted Hit & Run Driver Caused Accident
Lake Wales, Florida – At approximately 3:30 pm, Tuesday, April 26th, 55-year-old Diane Shelton, DOB 3/7/1956, Lake Davie Drive, WH, was traveling east bound on Chalet Suzanne Road in a 2008 Black Ford F150. At the same time, several vehicles were stopped at the traffic signal at the intersection at Chalet Suzanne and Scenic Highway. It appears as though Shelton never made an effort to break for the cars stopped ahead of her and crashed into an older model Thunderbird, which then crashed into a 2005 Toyota Corolla, which then crashed into our PCSO Animal Control vehicle.
