McDonalds Staff Helps Deliver Baby At Lake Wales McDonalds
UPDATE: DailyRidge.Com was able to get in touch with the great grand mother of the baby Joshua (Barbara Albert). Ms. Albert advised that they had spoken to the hospital several times and the baby was doing okay. “He is only 2 1/2 pounds” said Albert. She would go on to say that she is actually the mothers, Shardonnay Hill, grand mother (making her Joshua’s great grand mother) and she was on her way to the clinic with Shardonnay when the baby arrived. “This is Shardonnay’s first pregnancy, she’s 20 years old, and I was helping her since her mom passed away 6 years ago. Shardonnay had told me that she could go to the bathroom and had difficulty sleeping. ” said Albert. After a fitful night of sleep they headed to the clinic to get checked out. Albert advised Shardonnay she was needing some coffee and Shardonnay said that was good as she was going to try and go to the bathroom. Albert was headed back to her car when someone who works for McDonalds came out and said the baby was coming. “I wish I had tons of money, because I would just give it to those girls for what they did” said Albert. She was referring to the staff at McDonalds who quickly jumped into action. The baby was still in the placental sac, but was coming out. The rest is all explained below. Albert did have one question and that was why it seemed so long for the fire department and emt’s to show up. We inquired about this and it actually only took the LWFD 1 1/2 minutes to get to the scene, once they were called. It would stand to reason that the delay occurred while the 911 operator was instructing the McDonalds Staff on how to deliver the baby. Barbara Albert was just thankful that the baby made it, but said it is the tiniest baby she ever saw. So if your a praying person say a few for Joshua Murry and we will try and get back to you on what they will be nicknaming the baby (Mickey may cover many area’s as Albert is retired from Disney World).

Lake Wales, Florida – A reader, Donna Gerard, notified DailyRidge.com that a baby had been born at the Lake Wales McDonald’s. The McDonald’s Gerard was referring too is the Lake Wales McDonald’s at 416 W Central Ave. According to the assistant restaurant manager, Karen Davis, a baby was born at the restaurant and was delivered by staff with the help of a 911 operator. The baby was delivered by Tirado who says “I have 3 boys, but have never done anything like that before”. The pregnant mother who’s age or name were not available was taken to Haines City hospital in what appeared to be fair condition. She is believed to have been 6 months pregnant. When the baby came out he did take a few breaths and Tirado was instructed to massage the baby’s chest. Emergency personnel from Lake Wales Fire Department and Polk County Emergency Medical Services arrived moments later and placed an oxygen mask on the baby. The baby, believed to be named Joshua, was taken to Lake Wales Medical Center, the baby was then transported to All Children’s Hospital.
Davis said she thought this was a first for the restaurant, since she had been there. “We wish the baby well and hope mom will bring him back to see all of us” said Davis.
