Clerk of Courts Offers Valentine’s Group Wedding
“Courting couples” can tie the knot and make Polk County history on the most romantic day of the year.
Beginning at noon on Valentine’s Day, Clerk of Courts Stacy Butterfield is performing a group marriage ceremony at the Polk County History Center, 100 E. Main St., Bartow.
The ceremony takes place on the picturesque steps of the historic courthouse and features a poem reading, musical serenades by students of the Harrison School for the Arts and a wedding photo.
Following the ceremony, couples and their guests are treated to a reception with light refreshments provided by local sponsors in the vintage 1926 courtroom.
The clerk is waiving the $30 ceremony fee; however, standard marriage license fees do apply. The ceremony is limited to the first 50 couples.
“We are excited about the group wedding as it’s a fun way for us to engage and give back to the community,” Clerk Butterfield said. “And, to our knowledge, it’s the first group wedding of this size to be offered in the county, so we look forward to making Polk history with our special couples.”
“The clerk’s office is responsible for issuing marriage licenses in Polk, and it’s a service that’s special to us,” Clerk Butterfield continued. “We are a part of every marriage in the county, and this is something we greatly respect. Our office strives to make our contribution seamless and easy in order to enhance the joy of the moment.”
