On Saturday, 11/09/2013, at approximately 0300 hours, the Emergency Communications Center received a call regarding a vehicle crash on Scenic Highway North near Tindel Camp Road, Dundee. Deputies responded and found Alysha Dawn Rahmer, entrapped in her vehicle in the middle of the roadway facing north. The second vehicle was found on the west shoulder of the road, lying on the driver’s side pointing west. Shanderia Breon Allen was determined to be deceased inside the front passenger compartment. Rahmer was extricated from the vehicle by Lake Wales Fire units and transported to the Winter Haven Hospital.
Evidence at the scene appears to show that Rahmer was southbound on Scenic Highway and Allen was northbound when the crash occurred. The vehicles collided in the middle of the roadway. The airbags in both vehicles deployed, but it appears as if neither driver was wearing a seat belt. The investigation of the crash is ongoing to determine how the crash occurred.
Deputies detected an odor of alcohol on the Rahmer at the scene and at the hospital. Charges are pending blood test results. Scenic Highway was closed in both directions for approximately five hours.
