Polk County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Arrest Suspects Possessing Child Porn

On Thursday, March 28, 2013, in two separate investigations, Polk County Sheriff’s Office Computer Crimes detectives discovered Child Pornography on computers in two Lakeland homes.

In the first investigation, detectives received a tip about possible child porn being downloaded at a computer at 5221 Christy Lane, Lakeland.  Detectives obtained a search warrant and made contact with the resident, 38-year-old Terry Barker, DOB 12/21/1974.

Detectives discovered 14 images of child pornography that depicted children engaged in sexual acts with adults and other children and/or displaying their genitals in a lewd manner on a desktop computer in the residence.

Barker was charged was with 1 count Promotion of Child Pornography and 2 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.  This investigation is on-going.

In the second investigation, detectives learned several files of child pornography had been shared online from 625 Shore Acres Drive, Lakeland in February 2013.

When detectives arrived at the residence, two occupants were inside, 55-year-old Geraldine Cummings, DOB 2/26/1958, and her 29-year-old son, Stephen Joseph Cummings, Jr., DOB 12/29/1982.

When detectives interviewed Stephen Cummings, he admitted to downloading child pornography, telling detectives, “When you look at the computer, you got me dead to rights.

As detectives searched the residence they located syringes and other items used in Methamphetamine use.  Detectives also discovered cannabis in Geraldine’s bedroom.

Stephen Cummings was charged with 1 count Promotion of Child Pornography and 12 counts Possession of Child Pornography, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession Cannabis, and Possession Drug Paraphernalia.

Geraldine Cumming was charged with Possession of Cannabis.

All three suspects were booked into the Polk County Jail.
