Witness Assaulted After Stopping Car Burglary
Winter Haven, Florida – Winter Haven Police have arrested a man and woman after they attempted to burglarize a vehicle, ultimately assaulting witnesses who tried to stop them.
On Monday, September 12, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Leon Mascorro 18, who lives on Ave. B, SW, in Winter Haven and Tina Kathleen Zink 33, of 32nd St., NW, Winter Haven were seen around a vehicle located in front of Family Billiards at 20 Fourth St., NW in Winter Haven.
When witnesses approached the vehicle, Zink was sitting inside concealing items inside of her shirt while Mascorro stood by. When confronted, Zink lunged at the witness with a pocket knife having a blade of approximately 4 inches long. When Mascorro (on a bicycle) and Zink started to flee the area, Mascorro threw a bicycle towards the witness.
Mascorro and Zink have both been arrested and booked in the Polk county Jail on charges of Armed Burglary, Aggravated Assault and Petty Theft. Mascorro was also charged with five counts of Resisting An Officer Without Violence after he became uncooperative pulling away from officers during the arrest.
