Off Duty Lakeland Police Officer Arrested For Battery
Lakeland, Florida – Deputies arrested 41-year-old Jerry Matthew Monroe of Lakeland today charging him with Misdemeanor Battery. Monroe is a Police Officer with the Lakeland Police Department. Monroe was off duty at the time of the incident, which occurred at approximately 5:40 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013. It is believed that Monroe became enraged when the other driver allegedly cut him off. As a reference, Monroe is the larger man who exits his vehicle—his was the second vehicle to enter the parking area.
Lakeland Police Searching For Burglary Suspect
Lakeland, Florida – On Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at approximately 4:30 a.m., an unknown black male entered the AVI Food Mart, located at 1205 Lakeland Hills Boulevard, and committed a burglary. The suspect is described as an older black male, approximately 5’6” to 5’8” with a muscular build. Lakeland, Florida – On April 16, 2013 at 12:19 a.m., Lakeland Police responded to 524 West 12th Street in reference to a male allegedly shot during a home invasion robbery. Woman Killed In Polk Motorcycle Accident
Lakeland, Florida – At approximately 6:56 pm, on Sunday, May 5, 2013, 55-year-old Christina Brown Partanna, DOB 07/29/1957, 12th Street, Zephyrhills, was traveling southbound on Old Dade City Road, near Rockridge Road, on a 2003 Purple Honda motorcycle. Partanna was traveling in the lead of a pack of other motorcycles which were being operated by her brother in-laws. According to witness information, Partanna was slightly ahead of them and started around the curve at the Old Dade City, Rockridge Road intersection at about 30 MPH. Lakeland, Florida -Polk County Sheriff’s Office School Crossing Guard, Stephen Pederson, Bonny Shores Drive, Lakeland, DOB 05/01/1946, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, after falling over 20 feet from a tree. At approximately 8:00 am, Pederson, a member of the All Faith Baptist Church, 302 Longfellow Boulevard, Lakeland, had been trimming trees at the church, a task he volunteered to do on several occasions.
