Haines City Commission Passes Resolution Banning Flavor Tobacco Sales

Haines City, Florida – The Haines City Commission passed a resolution to urge retailers located in the City to cease marketing and selling flavored tobacco products. Tobacco Free Polk County and the American Lung Association support these types of initiatives as they promote and encourage healthy lifestyles throughout the community. “Tobacco companies have been targeting youth and young adults by marketing flavored tobacco and nicotine products,” said Angela Forte, Tobacco Program Manager for the Florida Department of Health in Polk County. “It is in the interest of public health that we work together against Big Tobacco.” Flavored tobacco products are…

Haines City, Florida – On October 9th, 2013 Detectives from the Haines City Police Department arrested the former physical education teacher at Landmark Christian School (Charles E. Lewis) for six counts of Unlawful Sexual Activity with certain Minors (each count is a 2nd degree felony). During the Haines City Police Departments investigation it was revealed that between March 2011 and August 2012, Charles E. Lewis had sexual relations with a minor numerous times. Haines City, Florida – Around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, 76-year-old Cecil Marston of 2800 US Hwy 17/92 West in Haines City, was walking south across the westbound lanes of US Hwy 17/92 to get to the county bus stop near the Minerva Adult Community, when he entered into the path of a motorcycle being driven by 41-year-old Jonathan Benham of Poinciana, which was heading westbound on US Hwy 17/92. Woman Arrested For Theft From Lake Wales Sears Arrested Again 3 Days Later In Haines City

Lake Wales, Florida – LWPD  responded to Sears in reference to an alleged retail theft. Jermisha Hicks was detained after loss prevention allegedly saw her conceal jewelry in her bra and leave the store without paying. She was located near the play area in the mall and escorted back to Sears. She was issued an notice to appear and released. She was then arrested by Haines City Police on September 30, 2013 for petit theft of a business in that area.
