PCSO Undercover Detectives Arrest 17 During Narcotics Investigation    In July 2014, detectives with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into the sale of illegal narcotics in the Haines City Area. On August 7, 2014, PCSO undercover detectives, along with the HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) Task Force and the Haines City Police Department, executed four search warrants and made 17 arrests.     The four search warrants were executed at the following residences:   1.      1237 Avenue I, Haines City, Florida; A total of three arrests were made at this residence — Carl Scott, Charles Tavares, and Trumaine Cooper….

The Haines City Police Department is currently working a death investigation that was reported at approximately 8:30 AM. The death occurred in a wooded area west of North 30th Street between Johnson Avenue and Melbourne Avenue.  The name of the deceased is Gustavo Jaimes Mendez, H/M, DOB: 4/22/1990, 2109 Winger Avenue, Haines City, FL. The next of kin has been notified of the incident.  The investigation is still considered active pending the results of an autopsy.

Davenport, Florida – A Winter Haven man was arrested after he repeatedly rammed into a another vehicle in a road-rage incident on Hwy 27 in Davenport. The incident took place on July 17, 2014. Lakeland, Florida – Three Lakeland men and an Okeechobee freshwater turtle farmer were caught illegally harvesting, selling and buying wild-caught freshwater turtles as a result of a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) investigation. “Turtles are a popular, commercially available food item throughout much of the world and, as a result, over harvest has occurred in many countries,” said the FWC’s Lt.
