Hwy 27 Re-Opened & Man Killed In Horrific Accident Identified

Haines City, Florida – On June 25, 2012 at approximately 1315 hours, the Haines City Police Department investigated a traffic crash resulting in a fatality on Highway 27 North at Old Polk City Road.  The traffic crash involved five vehicles, to include three semi tractor trailer trucks and two passenger vehicles.  The investigation revealed that a 2002 Freightliner semi tractor trailer driven by Johnny Jose Fernandez Santos, h/m, 2/11/67, of 600 Candlewood Lane, Orlando, Fl,  failed to stop at the light and rear ended a Jeep Wrangler operated by Frank Everette Reid, w/m, 4/5/61 of 4008 Alafia Blvd., Brandon, Fl. …

Polk County, Florida -From Saturday evening, through Sunday morning, June 16-17, 2012, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office has received three drowning related calls for service involving small children.   The first incident occurred at approximately 6:48 pm, on Saturday, June 16, 2012, when a 5-year-old girl from Okeechobee was visiting with family members at an Aldridge Lane residence in Davenport.  Several family members, children and adults, were in the pool together when one adult noticed the 5-year-old at the bottom of the pool.  Family members pulled the child out of the water, performed CPR and the child was revived.  Responding…

Polk Man arrested during Prostitution Sting

Osceola County (May 29)– On May 24-25, Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies with the Community Response Team West conducted an undercover prostitution operation which resulted in the arrest of 27 individuals for prostitution and drug related charges. The operation took place near the 4000 block of West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee.
