Breaking News: Lake Wales Jones Drafted In The First Round

Lake Wales, FL – Well it worked out pretty much like the prognosticators figured. Lake Wales native Dominque Jones was drafted #24 in the 2010 NBA Draft and is now a Memphis Grizzly.

Dominique Jones was born and raised in Lake Wales, FL.  At Lake Wales High School, Jones was a first team Class 4A All-State selection and average 6.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game, helping th Highlanders to a 22-5 record. The 2007 Lake Wales High School graduate decided to stay local at the University of South Florida Bulls.  Although he could have played at a bigger named school, it turned out to be a great decision. In his three years with the Bulls he not only improved in each statistical category, but he also led the Big East in scoring his junior and final season with 23.2 points a game in conference play.  His career high is 46 points, a number not many college players can say they ever reached.

Jones will join three other first round draft picks for the Grizzlies. The 12th pick Xavier Danials a guard from Kansas  and  #28 Greivis Vasquez a guard out of Maryland.  It will be very interesting to see how he fits in since he is also a guard.
