LAKE WALES – Huge crowds of parents and students flocked to back-to-school nights earlier this month at Dale R. Fair Babson Park Elementary School.

More than 70 percent of Babson Park’s 440-plus students were represented by at least one parent or adult family member at the back-to-school nights, according to Principal Ken Henson.

Previous open houses at the school attracted such good attendance that Babson Park divides the event by grade levels over three separate nights. This year, the open house for grades 4-5 was held Sept. 3, followed by grades 2-3 on Sept. 10, and grades K-1 on Sept. 17.

Teachers invite parents to come into their classrooms to learn more about the expectations for the school year. They explain homework and grading procedures, reading requirements, class routines and the school’s upcoming calendar of events.
