Hillcrest Elementary gets visit from special librarian

LAKE WALES – Dozens of Hillcrest families braved a chilly night recently to attend a special story time with a guest reader.

Kara Wiseman, children’s librarian for Lake Wales Public Library, used her best “reading voice” to share some special books and stories with the kindergarten children and their siblings who attended the event.

As part of the Family Night program, Wiseman told Hillcrest parents about all the family-oriented activities hosted by the Lake Wales Library. She also helped families register for free library cards.

“Even though it was chilly outside, we had a great time inside,” said Kindergarten Support teacher Lynda Norton, who helped organize the program.

The monthly Family Night program for kindergarten families is sponsored by Hillcrest’s Kindergarten Support program. All four elementary schools in the Lake Wales Charter Schools system have a privately funded Kindergarten Support Program that provides additional staff and intensive instruction.
